Nvidia Partners with South Korea’s Tech Giants
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has returned to South Korea after 15 years, marking a pivotal moment for the country’s AI push. During the APEC Summit 2025, Nvidia and the South Korean government unveiled plans to expand the nation’s AI infrastructure. The announcement underscored a deepening partnership with Hyundai Motor, Samsung, SK, and Naver to advance physical AI capabilities.
Building the Next-Generation AI Ecosystem
Under this initiative, South Korea will obtain over 260,000 Nvidia GPUs to support AI research, industrial automation, and cloud computing. Government agencies will utilize around 50,000 GPUs to develop domestic AI foundation models and data centers. Meanwhile, major corporations will deploy the remaining units to power autonomous vehicles, robotics, and smart manufacturing.
Samsung and Nvidia’s AI Mega-Factory Vision
Samsung revealed plans to establish a large-scale AI mega-factory with Nvidia, integrating artificial intelligence across semiconductor and smartphone production lines. Equipped with over 50,000 GPUs and powered by Nvidia’s Omniverse, the facility will create a digital twin environment for real-time optimization. This initiative is expected to strengthen Korea’s position in global AI-driven manufacturing innovation.
Strengthening Memory and Telecom Collaboration
Nvidia and Samsung are co-developing next-generation HBM4 memory to meet the exponential computing needs of AI workloads. In parallel, Nvidia will team up with South Korea’s three leading telecom firms—SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus—alongside ETRI to create advanced AI-RAN systems. These solutions aim to enhance network efficiency and improve mobile energy consumption nationwide.
A Strategic Step in Global Tech Diplomacy
The collaboration follows new U.S. technology deals with Japan and South Korea, emphasizing stronger alliances in AI, quantum computing, biotech, and 6G. Huang’s visit highlights Nvidia’s commitment to making Korea a core hub for AI development in Asia. The joint investments and initiatives are set to accelerate innovation and regional competitiveness on a global scale.
