The Chinese robotics company AgiBot has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in humanoid mobility. Its advanced humanoid robot, AgiBot A2, set a world record for the longest continuous journey walked by a humanoid robot, covering 106.286 kilometers (66.04 miles). The feat, verified by Guinness World Records, highlights growing innovation in autonomous humanoid systems.

The remarkable trek took place between November 10 and 13, tracing a real-world route from Jinji Lake in Jiangsu province to the bustling Bund waterfront district in Shanghai. The A2 operated continuously throughout the journey, confronting numerous terrain changes and weather conditions, showcasing exceptional endurance and balance control capabilities.

According to reports from China’s Global Times, AgiBot’s achievement emphasizes how far humanoid robotics have progressed in real-world adaptability. The journey included variable ground textures, nighttime walking under limited visibility, and navigating slopes. These conditions tested the robot’s advanced motion planning and environmental awareness systems developed by AgiBot’s artificial intelligence team.

AgiBot engineers revealed that A2 leveraged a combination of vision sensors, LiDAR mapping, and proprioceptive feedback to maintain stability. The robot’s onboard AI dynamically adjusted its gait and posture while analyzing surrounding obstacles, pedestrians, and street conditions, ensuring smooth progress over more than 100 kilometers without suffering a mechanical fault or loss of balance.
